MANSELL SEMI-CONSCIOUS BUT STILL CRITICAL

Champion claiming rider Jimmy Mansell is still in a critical condition following a fall at Ballinrobe last Sunday, writes Alan Magee.

The 19-year-old Limerick rider was taken off a life support machine this morning, and Turf Club doctor Walter Halley described him as `stable but critical`. `He is semi-conscious, and has responded to some of the tests carried out at Castlebar Hospital,` said Halley.

Catherine Gannon has been stood down for seven days following a fall on the Flat at Tralee yesterday. `Catherine has been detained in Tralee General Hospital with a whip-lash type neck injury, and I will review her condition in seven days time,` said Halley.
