Worldly Manner, Godolphin's first runner in the Kentucky Derby, is due to return to action later this month, it emerged today.
The colt raced prominently at Churchill Downs last May until fading to finish seventh behind Charismatic.
After a dismal run in the Preakness Stakes, when he finished 12th of 13, Worldly Manner was shipped to the Godolphin's Newmarket base at Moulton Paddocks and then moved to Dubai later in the year.
"He wasn't injured," Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford told The Blood-Horse. "But he had such a disappointing run in the Preakness that we took the view that he needed a rest.
"He has been in proper training since the end of October, and will run in the second leg of the Maktoum Challenge on February 10th at Nad al Sheba.
"If he's to establish himself as a contender for the Dubai World Cup, he'll need to be winning that race comfortably. And that's what we're expecting, because he's giving us all the right vibes leading up to it.
"We've never tried him on turf, but obviously there are suitable races in America on dirt and turf, so we will make a plan after February 10th."
