MAGUIRE BACK PROBLEM RESURFACES

Jockey Adrian Maguire will miss his intended rides at Newcastle tomorrow after suffering a recurrence of his back problem at Musselburgh today.

Maguire gave up his remaining mounts after suffering a muscle spasm when riding Cashmere Lady who finished fifth to Lastman in division two of the McEwan's Lager Novices' Hurdle.

"I was all right before racing," said Maguire. "I had a six-to-seven hour drive to the course and had no problems but I felt it go in the second race.

"The doctor had a look and said there was no way I could have taken the rest of my rides."

Maguire now intends taking medical advice to finally solve the problem.

"I will see a specialist as soon as possible because I want it sorting out once and for all."
