Montjeu, trained in France by John Hammond, strolled to victory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes today.
The 3-1 on favourite beat home Godolphin's Fantastic Light and the Aga Khan's Daliapour to collect the 750,000 pound race - the richest ever run in England.
Jockey Mick Kinane never had to raise his whip in anger as Montjeu - last year's French and Irish Derby hero and Arc de Triomphe winner - cruised up on the outside to head Daliapour in the straight.
His next target could be a clash with Godolphin's giantkiller Dubai Millennium in the Irish Champion Stakes in September before another tilt at the Arc and a mouthwatering meeting with this year's English and Irish Derby champion Sinndar.-AFP
