The start of the turf Flat season is just over three weeks away and Eddie Lynam is looking forward to another campaign with his Group 1 winning sprinter Romantic Proposal.
The Raven’s Pass mare has progressed each year and joined the big league last season by landing the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend in September.
She likes to come from off the pace and showed a smart turn of foot inside the final furlong under Chris Hayes to beat A Case Of You by half-a-length.
The Clipper Logistics-owned six-year-old never got in a blow behind the same rival on testing ground in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp the following month but Lynam reports her to have wintered well.
“She has done very well and strengthened up over the winter,” said the Dunshaughlin trainer who has enjoyed great success in the past with top sprinters Sole Power and Slade Power.
“We’re involved with sponsoring the Sole Power Stakes at Naas and she’ll start there.”
The five-furlong Listed race is part of the Royal Ascot Trial’s Day card at Naas on May 15.
Lynam’s daughter Amy bought her as a foal for €25,000 and the progress over the past few years has been nothing short of staggering having gained the first of her five career wins when rated just 68 in a Cork maiden.
