Wayne Lordan partnered his first winner since returning from injury today as he steered the Aidan O'Brien trained newcomer son of Galileo, Lough Derg to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden at Dundalk.
Lordan fractured his shoulder in a heavy fall at Listowel on September 24, and having spent a month on the sidelines, today ended a 29 race losing spell on newcomer Lough Derg.
Lough Derg, out of a Listed-winning Dark Angel mare, today missed the break slightly, raced behind the leaders and quickened late-on to edge past Colour Sergeant and score a neck win.
Lordan later reported “he did well to win and showed his greenness early. I was down the inside and he was just backing out of it a bit with me.
“When I got straightened up he picked up and did well to win.
“We went a strong gallop and I was impressed with him. I thought he did well to pick up and go and get them. There should be plenty more to come.”
