There’s plenty of money around for Listowel’s mixed eight-race card today, particularly in some of the later races.
In the Listed Listowel Stakes at 3pm John Oxx is treble handed with What A Charm Swampfire and Cape Of Good Grace but it is the latter horse, the mount of Niall McCullagh, who has seen support from 7/1 to 5/1 this morning. This filly is on a hat-trick.
The featured Kerry National at 4.10 has seen two horses backed early on. English raider Minella Boys (25/1 to 14/1) and Gonebeyondrecall who has good form figures at Listowel (also 25/1 to 14/1). Muirhead is a notable non-runner here.
Top-weight Swift Counsel #8217;s odds have shortened to 6/1 from 10s in the Seamus Mulvaney Handicap Chase at 4.45.
There’s a significant gamble on I’lltelimar King in the race at 5.15. This gelding is coming off a break after a poor run at Killarney in May. He has been backed from 25/1 to 9/1. In the same race Noras Fancy who has been off track for over a year has her supporters at 12/1. She is now generally a 7/1 chance. Leceile the forecast second favourite here is a non-runner.
In the final race of the day at 5.45 Cooper’s Dream from Colin Bowe’s yard (8/1 to 13/2) and Murchu (7/2 to 11/4) have attracted money.
In terms of market drifters, a significant one is Tavern Times in the 3.35. He opened this morning at 11/8 and is now 7/4 for Thomas Mullins and Davy Russell.
