Fozzy Stack is facing a race against time to get his Irish Lincoln winner Chazzesmee back into action again this season following an injury setback.

The six-year-old gelding gained his third career win when justifying strong support on testing ground in the Nua Healthcare Irish Lincoln at the Curragh back in March.

He also went off favourite five days later in the English equivalent at Doncaster but could only manage fifth behind Mr Professor and was unplaced in two subsequent starts at the Curragh.

“He popped a splint of all things and if he does come back this year it will be for the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot,” said the Thomastown Castle trainer.

“He’d want every week between now and Ascot (on October 19) and if not he’ll be back for the Lincoln next spring.

“He needs cut in the ground.”
