Lady Temperance wins on debut for Furini and Mullins After his father Willie’s treble earlier, Patrick Mullins rounded off a productive day at Naas for the Closutton family when winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares INH Flat Race on Getaway newcomer Lady Temperance (10/1). Patrick’s cousin Danny was at the number one in the aftermath, to welcome back Lady Temperance, trained by his mother Mag, after she’d registered a length and three parts win over the experienced Fairyhill Run. Odds-on favourite Daphne Moon disappointed badly here in eighth place, but up front Lady Temperance quickened smartly from over a furlong out. “I think she's a nice mare,” said Ms Mullins. “The owner (and breeder, Daniel Furini) is an Italian man and he's bought a place in Kilkenny. He's a very good owner, he's lovely. “She's a nice filly and I'm impressed with her. She's a good genuine solid filly and it's a good track to win on. “She was a little bit green and there should be a lot of improvement in her. She's something to look forward to. I'm delighted with her and delighted for Daniel.” The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Daphne Moon, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
