LIVIUS GETS ASCOT TARGET

Livius survived a stewards` inquiry after landing the opening Going Places Handicap for trainer David Chappell and jockey Richard Hills.

The 8-1 winner came with a wet sail in the closing stages to beat Veridian by a length and a quarter, but in doing so hung right.

Chappell, who is thinking of aiming the gelding for the Ritz Club Stakes at Ascot`s Festival of British Racing next month, said: 'He was caused us heartaches all year, if there is a bug about he catches it.

'I think he just rolled over a bit at the end.'
