LITTLE GAMBLE IN ST LEGER

Littlepacepaddocks was today all the rage in the ante-post market for Saturday`s Rothmans Royals St Leger at Doncaster.

And trainer Mark Johnston boosted her backers` confidence after saying he 'would not be surprised' if the daughter of Accordion were to win the race.

The filly, winner of a Listed contest at Newbury in June and fourth in the Irish Oaks, is as short as 13-2 with William Hill, having been 20-1 over the weekend.

The Tote have cut her to 9-1 from 16-1, Coral go 7-1 from 14-1 while Ladbrokes make her an 8-1 chance from 14-1.

'She`s in great form,' Johnston said.

'She did her last gallop with Fruits Of Love and worked brilliantly - in fact she went a little bit better than him.

'Keith Dalgleish rode her and Bobby Elliott rode Fruits Of Love - there was about a stone difference in weight but that was fair.

'She went really well and was coasting at the top of the gallop.

'I think she is still a little bit weak and immature but she has got all the class and I would not be surprised if she won the St Leger.'

Michael Hills will ride Littlepacepaddocks at Doncaster.

Air Marshall heads the 13 horses who remain in the #350,000 event following the five-day declaration stage.

A total of 12 horses were confirmed for the race along with the Luke Comer-trained Chimes At Midnight, who was supplemented at a cost of #20,000 for the oldest Classic on Saturday.

There were no surprise withdrawals with all the leading fancies standing their ground.

Sir Michael Stoute`s Air Marshall heads betting in most lists and is joined by stablemate Dalampour.

Jimmy Fortune has been booked to ride Geoffrey Freer Stakes second Savoire Vivre by trainer John Gosden while Gordon Stakes winner Millenary is set to represent John Dunlop.

Marienbard, who split Air Marshall and Dalampour in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, is Michael Jarvis` sole remaining entry following the withdrawal of Holding Court.

Aidan O`Brien remains double-handed with Lermontov and Rostropovich and the Irish challenge could also include the Dermot Weld-trained Media Puzzle along with Chimes At Midnight.
