Johnny Murtagh was always travelling easily on the Ballydoyle youngster and had the move covered when 1000 Guineas market leader Cuis Ghaire struck the front a furlong and a half out in the Group Three contest.
Rip Van Winkle (11-8) quickened up impressively and swept past the 8-11 favourite for victory by a length and a quarter, looking to have plenty left in the tank.
Coral's reaction was to make the Galileo colt their 8-1 favourite for next season's Classic, while Cuis Ghaire remains 8-1 market leader for the fillies' version.
