Florry Knox sprang a 25/1 shock when taking the Jossestown Handicap at Clonmel for Pat Flynn.
The Captain Rio gelding shot came wide in the straight, under Michael Hussey, and threw down a challenge at the furlong pole.
He soon hit the front and kept on well in the closing stages to record a comprehensive three-and-a-quarter-length success over The Fox Tully
The winner had failed to show much form recently, both on the Flat and over hurdles, having started his career with promise.
"That was great. I thought he'd run well but I didn't expect him to win," said Flynn.
"The other fella (Captain Baldini who finished 13th) was disappointing.
"I only have him (the winner) a while and he's been with a few different trainers. He was flat to the boards but came right at the end.
"It's a nice win for the owners who are nice people. He'll go for another handicap next."
