Yesterday's dramatic Kerry National saw runner-up Ravenshill beaten a head by Poker Party with race-results subsequently not conveying an entirely correct picture as Denis O'Regan, rider of that narrow runner-up, was reported to have carried 1lb over-weight.
O'Regan had made the correct weight of 10st3lbs prior to saddling but, following the running of the three-miles race, did return one pound 'strong' at 10st4lbs.
The race also featured the dramatic final fence exit of challenging Shantou Village, whose rider Robbie Power was unseated, almost backwards, as his reins opened on landing at the obstacle.
In other news on a dramatic Kerry National day, the Joe Murphy trained smart prospect Angel's Amy was subsequently put down having suffered a serious injury in her hind quarters.
The daughter of Dragon Pulse was an impressive handicap winner at the meeting on Monday, which saw her flat rating rise to a smart 100, but was pulled up injured shortly after the start of Wednesday's Brandon Hotel Handicap.
The news comes as another blow to her trainer Joe Murphy who also lost his stable star Swamp Fox at Ballinrobe in May.
