Robert Ogden holds the key to next Saturday`s Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury.
The champion owner has five possibles in the prestigious £90,000 handicap, including leading fancies Ad Hoc, Kingsmark and Marlborough.
Davoski will not run in the race but plans are still uncertain for the remaining quartet.
However, should Kingsmark take his chance he has all the characteristics of a Hennessy winner.
The son of Roselier won novice events at Bangor and Folkestone last season before leaving trainer Oliver Sherwood for Martin Todhunter.
Placed on his first two starts for his new trainer, Kingsmark made a winning seasonal debut in a modest event at Market Rasen last month.
But it was in Haydock`s Edward Hanmer Memorial Chase that he really burst onto the scene.
Ridden by promising conditional jockey David Dennis, the grey trounced some useful rivals, bounding away after the last to beat Tresor de Mai by 10 lengths.
Barry Simpson, Ogden`s racing manager, said: 'I was very pleased with Kingsmark.
'It was a big step up in grade for him but he did it well.
'However, Mr Ogden has five entries in the Hennessy, although Davoski won`t run because he didn`t stay at Cheltenham so there`s no point him running at Newbury.
'We still have four to consider. I`ll talk it over with Mr Ogden so plans are fluid at the moment.'
Of the remainder Ad Hoc has been the biggest talking horse of the season so far.
Paul Nicholls` charge looked an exciting prospect when winning at Ayr on Scottish National day in April and would have won at Wincanton but for falling at the last fence on his return to action.
His jumping is certain to be put under further strain in the Hennessy and he may need more experience before taking on this sort of class.
Marlborough developed into a top-class handicapper last season once his jumping improved, winning the William Hill National Hunt Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
However, he suffered an injury at Ayr on his final start of last campaign and will have plenty of weight on what could be his seasonal bow.
Foxchapel King should make a bold bid to give Ireland its first Hennessy since Bright Highway in 1980.
Mouse Morris` charge, second in the Irish Grand National earlier this year, was an impressive winner of the Intervet Trophy at Cheltenham, beating Earthmover by eight lengths.
After the victory Morris was bullish about the horse`s chances in the Newbury showpiece, saying: 'The Hennessy has to be on the cards after that and he will be back over for that race now.
'He`s done everything right as he`s jumped so well and Shay (Barry) has given him a great ride. He`s a very good horse and he could be quite well handicapped on his second to Commanche Court in the Irish National last April.
'I`ve trained the second and third in the Hennessy in the past with the likes of Cahervillahow so maybe this will be my year, that will be the plan in any case.'
Foxchapel King has not always been the safest of jumpers but would be a threat to Kingsmark given a clear round.
Beau, runaway winner of last season`s Whitbread Gold Cup, will cross swords again with Foxchapel King in the Hennessy Gold Cup after pleasing trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies.
'I`m very satisfied with that,' stated Twiston-Davies. It was a very good run under that sort of weight and he will now go straight to Newbury in a couple of weeks time.'
Promising as his return was, he faces a very stiff task under top weight in the likely absence of Florida Pearl.
Stablemate King`s Road could be of more interest.
The gelding almost caught Timmy Murphy and Flaked Oats out in the Badger Brewery Handicap Chase last time when finishing with a late flourish.
A winner at Ascot and Chepstow as a novice, the gelding must have soft ground to be seen at his best.
But if conditions come in his favour this thorough stayer could well be in the shake-up.
Of the rest Thomas Pink Gold Cup winner Lady Cricket is likely to find this extended 26 furlongs stretching her stamina to breaking point.
In recent seasons the Hennessy has tended to be won by an unexposed chaser in the bottom half of the weights.
Kingsmark fits the bill and can get the better of King`s Road and Foxchapel King in the Newbury showpiece.
