Prize money for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot is to increase by 25 per cent to £750,000 this season, it was announced today.
It is the second major boost in recent years for the De Beers-sponsored race, which was worth £500,000 in 1997.
Ascot chief executive Douglas Erskine-Crum said: "We are delighted to add another £150,000 to the value of the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and so further enhance its appeal both at home and abroad."
This year's renewal, to take place on July 29th, is the only British leg in the Emirates world series of racing.
