KENNY HEADS FOR UTTOXETER

Young Kenny will miss Thursday's Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup but Peter Beaumont is keen to run him in the Marston's Pedigree Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter, two days later.

The nine-year-old, currently 16-1 with Ladbrokes for the Martell Grand National, found the ground too fast when only fourth to The Last Fling at Haydock last time.

And the likelihood of similar conditions at Cheltenham next week has scuppered plans to run him in the Festival.

Beaumont reasoned: 'It would have been a waste of time leaving him in the Gold Cup at today's stage, the ground would not be right for him to have run in that.

'So we are hoping it is soft enough for him at Uttoxeter, we want to get a run into him before Aintree and the race comes just right with three weeks in between.'

Beaumont will have only one runner at the Festival, Niki Dee, in Tuesday's William Hill National Hunt Handicap Chase and he added: 'He is in good order and we are hoping for a good run. Robbie Supple rides.'
