Jimtown in Down Royal surprise The Kevin Prendergast yard may have suffered a reverse at Wexford with favourite Wot A Shot only eighth in the 7.35 but Jimtown gave the veteran handler a boost just twenty minutes later in the Apple Orchard Handicap at Down Royal. Declan McDonogh's mount, a 14/1 chance, beat Circumstances by a head with the well-backed market-leader King Of Dudes (rider said his mount clipped heels and stumbled) having to settle for fourth. McDonogh said: "He loves good ground. The horses are starting to run well again. "He had form on the polytrack and he put his head down well and battled well there." Johnny Murtagh who rode King Of Dudes reported that his mount clipped heels and stumbled. Dragon Khan's rider Leigh Roche said his mount didn't handle today's ground. He finished last of the nine runners and was found to be post race normal. (MG & EM)
