JUST JASEUR

Jaseur, placed behind Kayf Tara in the 1999 Goodwood Cup, can make his class count in the Aussie Jumps Novices` Hurdle at Ludlow tomorrow.

It may be a bit of a come down from running Godolphin`s champion stayer to four and three-quarter lengths but winning a race is what matters and this two-mile-five-furlong event looks his for the taking.

Jaseur was trained by John Gosden at Newmarket when a useful Flat performer in his younger days.

He has been with George Barnett all year and ran creditably several times on the Flat, notably when second to Busy Lizzie at Chester in August.

And he has had a run on the level - finishing fifth to Coco Loco at Doncaster two weeks ago - since a promising first effort over hurdles.

That was at Aintree a month ago when he was beaten only half a length by Bustling Rio over two and a half miles. A similar performance should see his going one better this time.

Sirmoor Rifles, a faller last time, can make amends toscore for Paul Nicholls in the P&T Jones Novices` Handicap Chase.

He only got as far as the sixth fence when parting company with Joe Tizzard but he was fancied having started the 15-8 favourite in a novice handicap chase here won by Delilah Blue. Compensation awaits.

Mr Hornblower was third on his debut over timber at Newcastle earlier this month and can open his account in the EBF `National Hunt` Novices` Hurdle (Qualifier) back at Gosforth Park.

His effort last time out was a big improvement on the form he had shown in two bumpers last season and he could be a useful addition to Len Lungo`s powerful Carrutherstown team.

The Mick Easterby-trained Snugfit Rosie can register her fourth course success in the Tote `Lady In Red` Hurdle (Showcase Handicap).

The four-year-old filly won her four starts last term - the first three here - and she ran respectively on her reappearance on heavy ground at Wetherby three weeks ago when third to Mini Sensation.

Marcus Tregoning, responsible for one of the most exciting two-year-olds of the last Flat season in Nashwan`s half-brother Nayef, can strike with one of his lesser lights at Southwell.

Hotaaff already looked useful in making a winning debut, albeit in a lowly maiden at Wolverhampton earlier this month.

This two-year-old son of Arazi had far too much class for the opposition when disposing of In Spirit by a length and a quarter over seven furlongs.

That race should have brought him on a ton and he can carry on the good work in the Bet Direct From Littlewoods Novice Stakes.

King Tut was runner-up to Ginner Morris in a claiming handicap at Newcastle last month and can go one better in his division of the Bet Direct on 0800 211 222 Amateur Riders` Handicap.
