Ruby Walsh heads a list of top riders on the sidelines after fracturing his right hip at Listowel on Monday evening.
The former champion, who dislocated his left hip at the Co. Kerry Festival meeting two years ago, may be out of action for eight weeks. Walsh was unseated from Caishill in the beginners chase on the opening day of Listowel, and the damage was confirmed after x-rays and a visit to a specialist in Dublin yesterday.
Norman Williamson has been stood down until next Monday with ´severe bruising to his lower back and restricted movement´ after a fall from Active Member in yesterday´s handicap chase. ´It is one of the softest falls I´ve had but another horse kicked me in the back of the kidneys,´ explained Williamson. The Cork-born rider has bruising over his left kidney.
However there is better news of Paul Carberry, who injured his knee in a fall at Punchestown on September 7. The champion National Hunt jockey has ridden out for Noel Meade twice this week, and is gradually on the mend. He hopes to be back on the track at Listowel this weekend.
