Master Tern, the gambled-on winner of the Vincent O'Brien County Hurdle - the 'getting-out stakes' of the Cheltenham Festival - last month, may reappear at Aintree this week.
The JP McManus-owned gelding holds entries in the novice hurdles on Thursday and Friday and trainer Jonjo O'Neill revealed that his charge could take his chance in either race.
"He is a possible runner but I don't know for sure - it depends upon what's running where," said O'Neill.
"I am keen to avoid Best Mate as he looks the one to beat on his Cheltenham run.
"So if Best Mate runs on Thursday then Master Tern could go for the two-and-a-half-mile race on Friday but I don't think Henrietta Knight (Best Mate's trainer) has made her mind up yet.
"He's in good form though and if he goes, he'd have a chance."
Francois Doumen is yet to commit Triumph Hurdle hero Snow Drop to the Glenlivet Anniversary 4-Y-O Hurdle at Aintree on Thursday.
The French trainer is weighing up the options for the filly and stablemate Bounce Back, who has an alternative option at the same meeting on Friday.
Doumen said today: "It is a case of making plans for both him and her. They are both in great form but I have to be sure that it would be the right decision to run."
