John Maxse has given the Jockey Club's backing to Jane Stickels after the controversy-dogged judge was in the news again today.
Placepot punter Steven Simon is considering suing the Jockey Club after Stickels incorrectly returned sixth-placed Statajack, rather than Fourdaned, fourth in a race at Lingfield last June.
Simon believes the decision, taken following a stewards' inquiry that demoted original winner Monacle, cost him around £20,000 in winnings.
Stickels was temporarily relieved of her racecourse duties the following month after calling Full Flow the winner of the Weatherbys Superlative Stakes at Newmarket, correcting it to Thady Quill a minute later.
Maxse, the Jockey Club's public relations officer, said: "She is judging at the moment. Following the incidents at Lingfield and Newmarket last year she underwent a period of re-training and for several months wasn't judging on her own.
"That period has now passed, she's now back judging in her own right again and will continue to do so."
A report in today's Daily Mail said that Simon was considering the unusual action of suing the Jockey Club and Maxse confirmed that the punter had been in contact with Portman Square.
"He contacted us last summer asking for compensation," Maxse said.
"We can understand his frustration but it has been made clear to him that the Jockey Club has no legal liability concerning the outcome of an individual's bet with a bookmaker."
