JIM READY TO GIVE CONNECTIONS A TONIC

French challenger Jim And Tonic was reported in good shape for Saturday's Singapore Airlines International Cup after working at Kranji racecourse today.

Gerald Mosse flew in from Hong Kong to ride the horse for the first time since the partnership took the Hong Kong Cup last December.

And after a seven-furlong workout the jockey said: "The horse felt perfect and so did the track. He felt just like he was before Hong Kong."

Trainer Francois Doumen's wife Elizabeth added: "The horse seems very well and everything's gone very smoothly out here."

Compatriot Barbola, to be ridden by Olivier Peslier on Saturday, also stretched his legs on the fibresand surface.

Afterwards his trainer Jean de Roualle admitted: "The horse was a little down after the journey here. He has never been further than Italy before now but he's picking up daily and I hope he'll run his race on Saturday."

Ivan Allan was happy with his Cup challengers Oriental Express and Holy Grail, who cantered today.

"It's a tough race but I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I had a chance," the Hong Kong trainer said.

Meanwhile Darryll Holland has been handed the mount on Pacific Prince by local trainer Charles Leeck.

He joins British-based riders Kieren Fallon (Oriental Express), Frankie Dettori (Sea Wave), John Reid (Monsajem) and Michael Hills (Showboat) in the line-up.
