Jockey Aaron Fahey has suffered life-changing injuries after a recent farming accident.

Aaron's sister, Emma, spoke to irishracing.com to give an update on Aaron and to highlight some of the initiatives in place.

She said: "Aaron is still in hospital waiting to be transferred to the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire - there is a wait to access services of 8-10 weeks.

"As his family, we know he will achieve the best possible outcome despite the challenge that lies ahead. He is a strong, resilient and positive person.

"His community and the racing community and his friends have rallied around him, and that support has been invaluable to us as a family.

"There is a tractor run, raffle and auction fundraiser for Aaron in Martins of Kildoon (pub), organised by the local community in Nurney, on Sunday 27th October."

In addition to the fundraiser, there is a gofundme page for Aaron, to help with adaptations to his home, which can be viewed at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/aaron-fahey-life-a-a-spinal-cord-injury .

Aaron rode his first racecourse winner on Eilise's A Lady at 50/1 in a bumper at Kilbeggan in June 2020 for his father, trainer Paul Fahey.
