Simply Sideways is to target the Garnet Stakes next weekend as trainer Tim Doyle hopes to add blacktype to the pedigree of one of this season's most improved handicappers.

A ten-race maiden at the start of 2023, the six-year-old initially won when rated just 48 at Gowran in May and having added four subsequent wins, including a recent hat-trick of consecutive handicaps, is now rated 89.

With the season nearing an end, trainer Doyle reports "Simply Sideways will go for the Garnet Stakes at Naas on Sunday week. In her last three runs she has really built in confidence and has got better with every run.

"If we got blacktype we'd probably leave it at that and retire her. It would be hard to do any more off her handicap mark next year."
