INTERNATIONAL RACE AT STRATFORD

Monday sees the second running of Stratford's National Hunt Flat Race Challenge between British-based and Irish jockeys.

This year 18 horses have been entered including the Michael Hourigan-trained Irish raider The Sawdust Kid.

Racecourse manager Stephen Lambert said: "We thought last year that it would be good fun on the eve of the Cheltenham Festival to have a Flat race between a team of Irish jockeys and a team of British riders.

"The Racing Channel showed great enthusiasm and came forward as sponsors and the idea really took off."

Stratford are hoping the likes of Richard Johnson, Norman Williamson, Paul Carberry and Ruby Walsh will take part.
