INJURY RULES OUT ISLAND BID

Frazer Island's connections will have to wait another year before they can start dreaming of Grand National glory again.

Richard Rowe, the trainer of the 11-year-old, revealed today that the gelding was taken out of this year's race on Monday after picking up a slight injury at home.

The Storrington handler said: "He worked on Monday and suffered a slight setback, nothing serious but enough to mean I couldn't get him ready for Saturday.

"It's a real shame and a blow to all of us as we'd deliberately kept him fresh for this race all year.

"But I'm certain he'll be back next year for another try."

Frazer Island was brought down at Becher's Brook on the second circuit last year when still travelling well under Richard Guest.
