INDIAN DANEHILL LOOKS PICK OF POOR FIELD

The first French Group One race of the season, the Prix Ganay, has attracted a disappointing field of four runners.

None of them, including Michael Stoute's Greek Dancer and Godolphin's Kabool, are previous group one winners.

The same applies to the home pair which include the likely favourite, Indian Danehill, from the powerful Andre Fabre stable. He was unable to fulfil his full potential last season as the stable was under a cloud, but the colt did nothing wrong when winning the Group Two Prix d'Harcourt earlier in the month.

Still a little ring rusty, Indian Danehill beat Chelsea Manor with more in hand than the length margin suggests and he should confirm superiority.

Indian Lodge gave young trainer Amanda Perrett the biggest success of her career in the Group Two KLM UK Mile at Sandown yesterday, following up a Group Three success at Newmarket nine days ago. Michael Kinane sat Indian Lodge behind early leader Trans Island and pushed the 9 to 4 favourite ahead a furlong out to win cosily.

The winner is likely to contest a Group One race next time in either the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 20th or the Prix d'Ispahan in France the following day.
