General Hubble bagged a quick follow-up victory in the opener at Punchestown this afternoon.

The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding had been an easy winner at Fairyhouse on Tuesday and went to post a 6/5 shot to strike again.

Carl Miller tracked the leaders on the Telescope gelding and let him hit the front before the fourth last in the three-miler.

He was rowing along on his mount turning for home as Emily In Paris and Le Malin joined him but General Hubble started to assert down to the last, going on for a four-length victory over the former.

Assistant Lisa O'Neill said:- “It's fantastic for the owners. It was a bit of an ask reappearing three days later.

“He showed coming up the home-straight there that he keeps a bit up his sleeve. Carl gave him a great ride and he was in a lovely rhythm the whole way.

“He was probably left there a bit too soon but there was nothing Carl could do.

“We'll see how he comes out of it and see what Gordon finds for him next. He's a grand type and is paying his own way in that grade.”
