Seamie Heffernan was handed a lengthy ban by the stewards in Gowran Park.
The ride that came under scrutiny was on runner-up While You're Up who was beaten a length and a quarter in the first division of the extended nine furlong handicap for three-year-olds only.

The Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of While You're Up, concerning his use of the whip in latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he had used his whip excessively. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that J.A. Heffernan was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and considering his record in this regard they suspended him for 10 racedays.
Heffernan had a winner on the card on board Sweet November for John McConnell.
