Village Voice swooped late to make a winning debut and complete a quick double for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley at Thurles.
The Zarak filly went to post an 11/2 shot on her first racecourse outing and was settled behind the leaders in the early stages of the mile auction series maiden.
Foley had to switch out on his mount over a furlong from home and she really found her feet in the closing stages to get up in the last strides and beat Shangrilama by half a length.
The winner cost 38,000gns at the Guineas Breeze-Up Sale at Tattersalls and is a grand-daughter of Group 2 winner Nasheej.
"She is a nice filly, we have always liked her and we bought her from the breeze-ups. We never got going with her until now and we didn't run her on rock hard ground,” said Harrington.
"Once he got her out she then didn't know what to do but once she met the rising ground, was always going to get there. Shane said she also jumped over the road.
"She was giving a good bit of weight away and is in the the series final on Sunday week so had to run here. She is a lovely big scopey filly."
