Dacesa got up late to land the spoils in the opening Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Naas to give in-form trainer Jessica Harrington another winner. Blueberry Faygo hit the front a furlong-and-a-half from home only to stumble slightly.
She was strongly pressed inside the final furlong by Dacesa and Shane Foley got his mount's head in front close home to secure a head victory in the five furlong contest.
The 11/10 winner is out of a winning half-sister to Hong Kong star Exultant.
Kate Harrington said:- “She went a bit weak on us about five weeks ago and has only done two bits since so there should be a good bit of improvement to come.
“The same group own her that own For The Trees, who won the Birdcatcher last year so they have had plenty of luck at Naas.
“The penny really only dropped in the closing stages and Shane was quite confident. He didn’t get after her until the last 100 yards when he always thought she was going to get there.”
There was a nasty incident in the stalls as Gateway to Heaven reared and went down. Thankfully both horse and jockey appeared unscathed.
Only five jumped off in the race with Tullypole Annie also withdrawn after refusing to load.
