Trainer Jessica Harrington and jockey Robbie Power completed a big race Grade 1 double at Leopardstown today, when Oscars Well impressively landed the Deloitte Novice Hurdle.
Oscars Well, previously successful in a Grade 1 event at Navan last December, arrived full of running entering the straight and eventually readily accounted for 1/1f Zaidpour with Shot From The Hip in third.
Afterwards Harrington stated “Oscars Well travelled really well in his race and I couldn’t believe how easy he was going and went away under ‘hands and heels’. I was a bit worried about bringing him back to 2m2f but they went a good gallop.”
“He has plenty of pace, has now won over 2m4f and 2m2f and the 2m5f Neptune Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham is the next logical step. We’ve always said he will be better on better ground and its great for the yard as they all work so hard.”
Jockey Power also stated “I always thought an awful lot of him and he has a great cruising speed and stays really well.”
