Half-an-hour after the success of The Nightingale another of Cadoudal's sons, Darling Harbour became the fourth French-bred horse (Montan & Kauto Star being the others) of the day to prevail in the testing conditions at Down Royal. David Casey's mount landed the Rainbow Telecom Handicap Chase.
Darling Harbour was fourth to Back Of The Pack last time in a Tramore beginners chase that is working out really well and here he made all and fended off the gambled-on Imperial Storm by three lengths.
Arthur Moore, the winning trainer, said of the J P McManus-owned victor: "I wasn't sure whether he'd handle the ground but he has come right and we'll keep him going during the winter."
Ruby Walsh took a heavy fall from Corrick Bridge at the last fence with a circuit to race. There is concern that he has suffered a broken leg and that obstacle was bypassed next time around.
Walsh, after registering a feature race double on Kauto Star and The Nightingale, was taken to hospital for investigation of his injury.
