Half The Odds upsets odds in Galway's 1st Point-to-point and bumper scorer Half The Odds got it right again, this time at the first time of asking over flights, in the galwayraces.com Mares Maiden Hurdle. The Noel Meade-trained and Jonathan Moore-ridden daughter of Flemensfirth put in a tremendous finishing spurt from the back of the last to collar Awayinthewest by a length and three parts. The latter certainly wasn't helped by an awkward landing at the final obstacle. Ainsi Va La Vie, the odds-on favourite, had every chance but ultimately could do no better than third. Moore said afterwards: "She is a smart mare and loved the going and we always knew she'd stay. I got her into a bit of trouble everywhere but in fairness to her she got me out of trouble and has so much heart and stays really well. "She jumps brilliant, winged the last and always knew we'd get by them after that." (TW & EM)
