Haifa scores on first outing for Twomey Haifa made a winning start for new connections when running out a convincing winner at Tipperary today. The Le Havre filly was backed from 10/1 into 5/2 on her first outing for Paddy Twomey since being bought by Ballygallon Stud Limited. Billy Lee had his mount in mid-division early, from her wide draw, and she swooped on the outer to lead a furlong from home. She went on to record a two-and-a-quarter length success over former stable-mate Ediyva. “She is new to the yard and we are learning with her. She is with us from early summer and she was ready to run today and I was hoping she'd do something like that,” said Twomey. "I'm delighted with the way she did it and it was nice drying ground. After her last run I think she was a little jarred after Dundalk. "She has a mark so we'll what the handicapper does but I'd say she'll stay a bit further." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
