Philip Hobbs crowned a memorable jumps season today by reaching 100 winners for the first time.
He made it to three figures as Fly-Away Gunner won the D.A.D. Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Exeter.
His 5-1 shot, ridden by Glenn Tormey, took the lead between the last two flights and ran on strongly to beat Always Sharp by five lengths. Esterelle was a further length and a quarter away in third.
Hobbs is the third jumps trainer to reach 100 winners this season after Martin Pipe and Mary Reveley.
It is the first time he has passed the landmark, having smashed his previous best total of 86 set in 1994/5.
The 44-year-old, a former jump jockey, started training in Somerset in 1985.
Major contributors to his tally this term include four-time winners Phardante Flyer and Wave Rock plus Celtic Native, who has landed six races including the Dick Reynolds Auction Novices' Hurdle at Wincanton.
And he gained the third Cheltenham Festival victory of his career with What's Up Boys in the Coral Cup last week.
