HUNDRED UP FOR HANNON

Richard Hannon recorded his 100th winner of the season when Chaweng Beach, the 5-2 favourite, finished strongly in the Haxted Mill Nursery at Lingfield Park today.

The Marlborough trainer moved on to the 99-winner mark when Nearctic Lady won at Bath on Monday and after his Tara Gold finished fourth in the second race at Lingfield it was left to the well-backed Chaweng Beach to reach the milestone by beating Paso Doble by three-quarters of a length.

Hannon, 55, was reaching a 100 for the ninth time in the last 10 years.

He sent out his first winner on April 17th 1970 when Ampney Prince scored at Newbury and his wins in British Classics have all come in the 2000 Guineas - Mon Fils in 1973, Don`t Forget Me in 1987 and Tirol three years later.
