Racing is confidently expected to resume in Britain tomorrow after today`s washout, with prospects rated 'very good' at Warwick.
But rain and high winds have already claimed the meetings at Catterick and Newmarket and Exeter`s survival depends on overnight conditions.
Warwick has missed much of the downpour which has hit the rest of the country and racecourse manager Christian Leech said: 'Prospects are very good.
'We did have an inch of rain yesterday and overnight but the going has only gone from good, good to soft in places to soft, good to soft in places.
'No inspection is planned.'
Exeter clerk of the course Nick Ansell was 'cautiously confident' that his track`s meeting, which features the £35,000 williamhill.co.uk Haldon Gold Cup, will go ahead if there is not too much rain overnight.
He said: 'We had two inches of rain overnight and it is debatable whether we could have raced today but we are a very quick-draining track.
'I have spoken to the weather centre and they say we will get more rain overnight.
'The best case is that it will be just a quarter of an inch and if we get away with that I am cautiously confident we will race.
'The worst case is another inch and that would knock us out.
'So we will have an inspection at first light tomorrow morning, 6.30am.'
But overnight storms and heavy rain claimed tomorrow`s meeting at Newmarket.
Clerk of the course Nick Lees said: 'The additional meeting scheduled for the July course on Tuesday was abandoned at 9.40am due to the severe weather conditions on Sunday night and Monday morning.
'Over an inch and a third of rain fell over the weekend and severe gales have caused structural damage.
'The forecast predicts some improvement although it seems unlikely that we will be able to have sufficient time to make the necessary repairs.
'Presently it is too dangerous to ask our staff to go into the damaged areas.'
And Catterick was called off after an inspection this morning.
A course spokeswoman said: 'We have abandoned. We have had a hell of a lot of rain and it is waterlogged.'
All of today`s three scheduled meetings were called off this morning.
