HONG KONG HOPING TO BOOST INTERNATIONAL MEETING

Hong Kong's international meeting at Sha Tin in December could feature three Group One races this year.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has applied to have the Mile, Vase and QEII Cup each upgraded to top status, and the Sprint made a Group Three event.

All four races have already had their prize money boosted this year, and extra cash may be added if they attain an increased ranking.

The Club has announced a rise in prize money for a number of races in the 2000/1 season, as part of its long-term aim to provide world-class racing in the territory.
