HOLLOW BEATS THE BLUES

Beat Hollow satisfied connections in a gallop at Newmarket today as Henry Cecil continues to get more work into his major hope for the Vodafone Derby following the colt's recent setback.

"He worked satisfactorily at home on the Newmarket gallops this morning," said Teddy Beckett, racing manager to the colt's owner Prince Khaled Abdulla.

Beat Hollow's preparations for the premier Classic were turned upside down when mucus was found in his lungs last week, but he has now been given a clean bill of health.

There is only three weeks to the Derby so time is running out for Cecil to get another race into the son of Sadler's Wells before Epsom on June 10th.

"I would say a racecourse gallop is more likely. But no decision on time and venue has been made," revealed Beckett."

Beat Hollow was not entered for next Tuesday's Predominate Stakes at Goodwood as the race comes too soon after his problems.

The only possible alternative is the Rosehill Conditions Stakes over 10 furlongs and 60 yards at Doncaster a week tomorrow.

"I would not want to rule anything out. We are really just seeing how he is and hoping that he will continue to progress. The Derby is the aim," Beckett added.

Beat Hollow won his only start as a two-year-old and advertised his Derby credentials with a smooth victory over stablemate Sandmason at Newmarket two weeks ago.

He is 6-1 second favourite for the Derby with Ladbrokes behind 3-1 market leader King's Best.
