HOLLAND BANNED

Darryll Holland will miss the Vodafone Derby meeting at Epsom after being suspended for 17 days under the "totting-up" procedure by the Jockey Club disciplinary committee today.

Holland was referred to Portman Square by the Thirsk stewards on May 20th after being found guilty of careless riding aboard Brave Edge in the Black Cat Fireworks Handicap, having already been suspended for 15 days for interference in the previous 12 months.

The committee was satisfied that Holland had committed an offence and suspended him for 17 days, five of which are deferred until September 30.

The suspension runs from June 2nd-13th inclusive and means Holland will miss both the Vodafone Oaks and Vodafone Derby at Epsom.

Holland missed both Epsom Classics last season after triggering a deferred ban from a previous referral.

The jockey finished 1999 with a total of 56 days off through suspension.
