HERBERT JOINS NEWBURY BOARD

Newbury racecourse today announced the appointment of Harry Herbert as a director.

Herbert, involved in racing since he gave up his stock-broking career in 1982, is best known as managing director of Highclere Thoroughbreds, owners of Lake Coniston, Tamarisk and Housemaster.

The 40-year-old was also elected to the Jockey Club last month.

Newbury managing director Mark Kershaw said: "We are delighted that Harry Herbert is joining the board of directors at Newbury.

"He brings with him a track record in thoroughbred management that is second to none and his marketing skills are excellent."
