HEAVY RAIN THREATENS PLUMPTON

Officials at Plumpton today warned that further heavy rain could put their meeting on Monday in doubt.

A total of 23mm of rain fell at the Sussex track overnight changing the going to heavy.

A statement from clerk of the course David McHarg said: 'The track will not be able to stand further similar rainfall.

'The forecast is favourable until Sunday afternoon when further outbreaks of wind and rain are expected until evening.

'Should this rain become heavy an inspection of the track would be required.

'Further information will be available on Sunday morning.'
