David Harrison today failed in his bid to get a 10-day ban overturned.
The Jockey Club disciplinary committee dismissed his appeal against the penalty which was imposed after his ride on Brilliant Red in the Ladbroke Stakes at Ascot last Saturday.
They upheld the local stewards' view that the jockey had intentionally caused interference to Damien Oliver on Provosky, who had accidentally interfered with Harrison's mount earlier in the race.
The committee ordered that Harrison, who was legally represented and also presented written evidence from Oliver, should forfeit his deposit money.
And he also became the first jockey to lose his riding fee, under an April 1 amendment to the rules which makes it forfeit if a jockey's mount is disqualified for intentional interference or reckless riding.
Harrison only completed a separate five-day suspension on Thursday. His new ban runs from next Monday to a week on Wednesday, ruling him out of the Eclipse meeting at Sandown and the first two days of Newmarket's July meeting.
