HAPPY BACK HURDLING

Happy Change, who has recently been placed in Group Three races at the Curragh and Ascot, will revert to the hurdling game at the latter venue at the end of this month.

He is trained by Mark Johnston for the Winning Line whose Stephen Winstanley said today: 'He ran a really good race at Ascot and there are opportunities for him here and abroad on the Flat.

'But though things did not work out as expected for him over hurdles last season for some reason, he has always schooled well and we will be aiming him at Cheltenham (Festival) this time.'

However, he also has a date at Prestbury Park in November, and Winstanley went on: 'We want to run in a two-mile handicap hurdle (Ladbroke Casinos Handicap Hurdle) but he may have to go up a bit in the ratings to get in.

'He is on 120 at the moment so we will run him in a two-mile handicap at Ascot first (October 28).'

Venetia Williams is one of the Winning Line`s jumping trainers, while Johnston is predominately a Flat trainer, but Winstanley went on: 'We think Mark will continue to train him for hurdling if he wants to give it a go, it will depend on his commitments and what he has to work the horse with.

'After one or two seasons over hurdles he will go to Venetia as we think he has the possibilities of making up into a two-mile chaser.'
