Ground at Down Royal eases

Following six millimetres of rain overnight, the going at Down Royal is now soft (soft to heavy in places) as their big two-day JNwine.com Champion Chase meeting gets underway at 1.05 this afternoon.

The Flat Turf season winds up at Leopardstown on Sunday, and the going is soft at the Foxrock track where the battle between Johnny Murtagh and Pat Smullen for the jockey's championship will finally be decided.

Meanwhile at Cork the going is soft, soft to heavy in places ahead of the Cork Grand National meeting on Sunday afternoon.
