Grand Annual favourite Kranji to bypass Cheltenham

Kranji, 6/1 favourite with both Paddy Power and Cashmans for the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase, will miss the two mile event on Gold Cup day.

Trainer Arthur Moore has decided to give the Cheltenham Festival a miss in favour of other targets after discussion with the eight-year-old´s regular partner David Casey.

´I had a chat with David and we don´t think the hustle and bustle of Cheltenham would suit him. He would also be better suited by a flat track.

´There are plenty of options coming up at Fairyhouse, Aintree and Punchestown, and those courses would suit him better,´ said Moore.

Kranji is a three time winner over fences, and made all for an impressive victory at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting.

The Co. Kildare trainer will be represented in the Grand Annual by Tiger Cry, runner-up to Greenhope in the race two years ago, while Mansony will line-up in the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase.
