Good As Gold just held the late lunge of Hell Cat Maggie to land the opening mares maiden hurdle at Tramore.
Pat Fahy's charge had hit the front going to the second last in the two-miler and kicked for home before the final flight.
Paul Townend had to be strong on the 9/4 shot as Hell Cat Maggie charged home on the run-in to get within nose at the line.
The winner, third at Downpatrick last time, was gaining reward for her consistent efforts this season.
“That was brilliant. She deserves it as she gives everything all the time,” said the trainer's wife Natalie Fahy.
“There's a good chance that she'll get a break now as she's been on the go a while.”
Pink Hat was sent off the 6/5 favourite but gave way going to the second last, after racing prominently, and could only finish sixth.
