Barathea Guest will take his chance in the Entenmann`s Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday, it was confirmed today.
Owner John Guest has agreed to pay the supplementary fee of #25,000 so the Sagitta 2000 Guineas third can renew rivalry with Newmarket runner-up Giant`s Causeway.
The prospect of some ease in the ground at the Curragh has swayed Guest in favour of the mile contest rather than a tilt at the Epsom Derby.
Guest`s racing manager Tim Corby said: 'Barathea Guest has been supplemented for the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday next.
'The official going is yielding. We hope current ground conditions will remain.
'He deserves his chance but it will be a very competitive contest.
'Philip Robinson will ride.'
Jason Morris, racecourse manager at the Curragh, had some good news for the connections of the George Margarson-trained colt.
He said: 'We`ve had a quarter of an inch of rain overnight. It is still overcast with the prospect of some more showers.
'The going is yielding on the round course and yielding to soft on the straight course.
'The forecast is for unsettled weather for the rest of the week.'
